Simple and Effective Strategies for Teaching Social Skills

Annie Baltazar Mori, OTD, OTR/L
Danette Bonfield Piantanida, MA, CCC-SLP

This resource discusses the unspoken rules of social interaction that one is assumed to know. This book helps children identify and make them aware of these hidden rules to provide successful social experiences. The premise of this book is that every child wants to fit in and play, but may not know how to interact. We can help these children by making them aware of unspoken rules and provide them with strategies to understand and remember them. This book references videos throughout which are available through the Pediastaff on-line library. Use the book and videos to help develop a social program for those children with awkward social exchanges to prevent or address the feeling of isolation.
